4. Children's Privacy

SparkBite is designed for children aged 5–10, used under direct parental supervision. A parent or legal guardian must create and manage all child profiles. By creating a child profile, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of that child.

SparkBite does not collect personal information directly from children. Child profiles store only a display name, age, avatar, and learning progress — all created and managed by the parent.

No advertising is shown to children. Child learning data is never sold, shared with advertisers, or used for commercial profiling. SparkBite is designed for children aged 5–10. Child profiles are created and managed by a parent or guardian, and SparkBite is intended to use privacy-protective defaults.

4a. Analytics and Cookies

SparkBite uses Google Analytics to understand how parents use the app and to improve the product. Google Analytics is entirely optional and is disabled by default.

Analytics cookies are only set if you explicitly opt in during child profile creation, or later via Privacy Settings in your Parent Dashboard. You can withdraw consent at any time from the Privacy Settings section — this will disable analytics and remove existing tracking cookies.

If you do not consent, no analytics cookies are set and no usage data is sent to Google. SparkBite's core educational features work identically with or without analytics consent.

Analytics data is used only by SparkBite to improve the app. No child learning data or child identifiers are included in analytics events.

5. Subscription and Payment Processing

Payments are processed securely by third-party payment providers. SparkBite does not store full card information or payment details.

6. Data Sharing

SparkBite does not sell personal data. Information may be shared with trusted providers only where necessary for app operation, analytics, hosting, and billing.

7. Data Security

We implement commercially reasonable security measures to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure.

8. Data Retention

Data is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, comply with legal obligations, and support users.

9. Your Rights

Parents or guardians may request access, correction, or deletion of their data and child profile data by emailing hello@sparkbite.app. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe we have not handled your data in accordance with UK data protection law.
